About The California Independent Living Needs Assessment
InfoUse is conducting a needs study for the State Independent Living Council
(SILC) and the California Department of Rehabilitation. The needs study will inform the California SILC plan about needed programs,
services and resources. The study includes several
data collection and public input methods in order to assure a wide range of
public participation. We intend to learn directly from persons with
severe disabilities in California about the needs and barriers to independent living.
People with disabilities will have a number of opportunities to participate
in the study. Key features of our plan include:
- Public forums
- Public forums will be held at different locations around the state on
topics on disabilities and independent living. Please contact InfoUse
for dates and locations.
- Focus groups
- We have conducted 14 focus groups throughout California, involving 130
people with disabilities in discussions about their needs.
- The Independent Living Needs Survey
- This Website includes an on-line
survey to gather data through the Internet.
